The Universidade Nova de Lisboa has issued a call for papers for its upcoming conference on Tourism, Leisure and War, which will be held from June 25th-27th 2015.
The conference aims to use tourism, leisure and war as categories of analysis to examine the political, ideological and geographical implications of war on the late nineteenth century and the twentieth century.
The Organizing Committee of the Conference ‘Tourism, Leisure and War’ is appealing for proposals which address, but are not limited to, the following topics:
What happens to tourism when war breaks out?
Holidays in time of war;
Tourism and leisure as forms of mobility and integration;
Tourism and occupation;
Tourism and memories of war;
War tourism.
Official languages: Portuguese and English
Submission of proposals deadline: until March 1st, 2014
