Hungary’s First World War Commission is asking people to help select a design for a planned national monument to commemorate the Hungarians who died in the war.
The story was covered on the news website Hungary Today. The website quotes Mária Schmidt, a member of the commission and head of the 20th Century Institute, as saying that the monument could be erected “in the next one or two years”.
660,000 Hungarian soldiers lost their lives in the First World War, twice as many as in the second.
