The Memorial Tower Project

A religious community raising funds to build a memorial tower to commemorate the centenary of WW1.

Friar Jamie at Whaley Hall, the Foundation House for the Community of the King of Love, a religious community, has appealed for funds in order to create a memorial tower in time for the centenary. Having joined the IWM’s Centenary Partnership, Friar Jamie explains more about the community and its aims in the following:

“At the moment we are in the process of raising the rest of the money to build a New Chapelthis will be formed within an older part of the chapel called the Oratory.

The New Chapel will have built in front of it a New Tower called the Memorial Tower, this will be dedicated to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the 1st World War.

In side the Tower there will be a ring of Bells hung to commemorate the 100th anniversary that will ring out as a living reminder of those men and woman who gave up their lives for our today, and through the sound of the bells we will never forget what they gave for us today.

The Bells will be a complete peal of Bells hung for full circle ringing and this will require to learn people the art of bell ringing young and old bringing people closer together of all ages.

The Bells are still at the foundry where they are in the process of being tuned, however we still have to raise the money for this tower, and we are looking for donations to come in from all sources, so if you would like to donate to this great cause then please contact Fr Jamie on 01663 732495 or email frjamie@talktalk.net.

Every Blessing,

Fr Jamie.”
