In Canada, the Elliston Heritage Foundation has founded the Great War Project to honour Newfoundland’s WW1 heritage.
The Heritage Foundation, based in Newfoundland itself, has announced plans to create an ‘impartial museum’ documenting the ‘hardships of Elliston residents who fought in this conflict’ as part of the Royal Newfoundland Regiment. Part of the displays will involve ‘live interpretation and theatre’ in time for the 2014-2018 Centenary.
One highlight is the creation of a WW1-era trench system to allow visitors to have an insight into conditions on the Front Line.
