Durham Cathedral Choir will commemorate the Centenary of the First World War with a special service on the 8th March 2014.
The choir will perform Johannes Brahms’ Requiem and Herbert Howells’ Requiem, modelled on Walford Davies’ A Short Requiem of 1915, which was written in memory of those killed in the First World War.
The pieces are described as “highly poignant and deeply moving, with both grounded in the universal themes of untimely death and eternal hope”.
