First World War exhibitions commissioned from the archives of leading European libraries will be discussed at a public event hosted by the Institut Français in London on 19th June 2014.
The directors and curators of three world-famous archives, Christophe Didier & Julien Collonges (Bibliothèque Nationale et Universitaire de Strasbourg); Ulrich Raulff (Deutsches Literaturarchiv Marbach); as well as Christopher Fletcher & Mike Webb (Bodleian Libraries Oxford) will talk about the themes that have emerged.
They will be considering August 1914:Literatur und Krieg; The Great War: Personal Stories from Downing Street to the Trenches 1914-1916; and 1914, La Mort des Poétes.
The discussion is the second of two events, focussing on literature, the First World War and the archives, organised by the Institut France and the German Embassy in London.
It runs from 7-9pm on Thursday 19th June 2014 at the Institut Français,17 Queensberry Place, London SW7 2DT.
