The TC Squared Theatre Company in New York presents ‘The Great War Theatre Project: Messengers of a Bitter Truth’ on Sunday, November 9th 2014 6.30pm.
The New York Society Library will host this new production, in connection with its current exhibition ‘From the Western Front and Beyond: The Writings of World War.’ The project has been created by young Boston-based artists under the direction of Rosalind Thomas-Clark.
The work combines spoken-word with archival film, photographs and artwork produced in connection with the First World War. Using poetry, prose, letters and journals the production aims to convey the voices of different individuals involved in the war, weaving together different experiences.
Producer Susan Werbe says, “The Great War Theatre Project: Messengers of a Bitter Truth bears witness to a cataclysmic chapter in human history and pays tribute to the tragic loss—on both sides—of so much human potential.
“We continue to look at these four years and try to place them in some context that makes sense. We continue to ask: ‘why this war?’ and, ultimately, ‘why war?’”
Admission is $20 and more information can be found on the New York Society Library website.
