The start of Battle of the Somme will be remembered on July 1st 2016 with an Anglo-French service at the Thiepval Memorial, and a day of UK national commemorative events in Manchester.
Entry to the Thiepval ceremony in France is by ticket only – the ballot closed on November 18th 2015 and those who were successful have been notified.

There will also be a programme of overnight vigils in the UK on June 30th.
