World War One Propaganda Posters were used as a means to encourage men to enlist for the war effort.
Men were not the only targets of such famous posters such as Lord Kitchener’s ‘You country needs YOU’ or ‘Daddy, what did YOU do in the Great War?” but women too were encouraged through propaganda art to save vital resources for the war effort and to keep the home fires burning with not only moral support but by working on farms and in munitions factories.
European and American nations produced many propaganda images with America producing the most number, despite entering the war in the latter stages in 1917. To view a selection of posters, visit Hullweb’s website by clicking here.
